Beauty is an industry that is accepting and supportive of every human. It doesn’t matter where you come from, if you hone your craft and work hard you will be able to support yourself and build a career.

Nancy Mayfield was a hair stylist working in Los Osos California, her son Brant took a liking to the craft after yers of watching her work. Knowing this could be a viable career path for him, when Brant was expelled from highschool Nancy pulled some strings to get him enrolled in cosmetology school. The rebellious youth was then expelled from that cosmetology school. Nancy took it upon herself to get him a place to stay in a neighboring town so he could finish his cosmetology training. Nancy believed in her son as she believed in her craft. She knew that supporting his interest in hair was important for his life and his future.

Through her unwavering support he was able to graduate and move to Los Angeles where he become an internationally known celebrity hair stylist. “I Wore Lipstick” hopes that this scholarship will help lend a hand to those seeking a career in cosmetology. We would like to be a force that supports our friends and chosen family on this path.
